
Jan Collmer is a native of Dallas, Texas. He received his initiation into
flying at NAS Pensacola,
and was awarded Navy wings at NAS Corpus Christi. He flew Navy fighters both
active and reserve,
including the Panther, Cougar, Banshee, Fury, and F8 Crusader. He retired
from active reserve with the rank
of Lieutenant Commander. Jan Collmer's EXTRA 300L was completed in February
1996. It was designed
and built in Germany by Walter Extra and is Serial No. 19 of the EA 300L series.The
EXTRA 300L is FAA
certified in the acrobatic category and can be flown to plus or minus 10 Gs.
With almost full-span ailerons,
the roll rate on the 300L is greater than 360 degrees per second. This, coupled
with the high G rating,
makes it one of the most agile two-place aerobatic airplanes in the world.
Top speed is 250 miles per hour.
Jan is an 20+ year airshow veteran and has flown over 300 airshow performances
across the United States from
Daytona Beach to MCAS Miramar and from Minnesota
to NAS Corpus Christi, Texas.
His aviation related activities include serving as President of the Frontiers
of Flight Museum at Dallas Love Field,
two four year
terms on the board
of the Dallas/Ft. Worth International Airport, former Chairman of the
Greater
Dallas Chamber of Commerce, and a member of ICAS, CAF, EAA, IAC and many
other aviation organizations.
Jan Collmer recently sold his company, High Voltage Power Systems, Inc. (HVPSI)
formerly, Collmer Semiconductor, Inc.,
a high tech company in Dallas and now is mostly retired. Prior to starting
his own company in 1979, Jan was President of
Varo, Inc. in Garland, Texas.
He will perform singly and with Patty Wagstaff, the Shockley Truck and Rich's Incredible Pyro in "Ten Stick"
